Hilla Sferruzza, has been the Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President for Meritage Homes Corporation (NYSE:MTH) since 2016 and previously, its Chief Accounting Officer and Corporate Controller since 2008.  Prior to Meritage, Ms. Sferruzza served in various management roles at Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE:HOT), which was acquired by Marriott International, and as a public auditor for KPMG.

Ms. Sferruzza has spent almost 30 years serving large public companies across the greater Phoenix area.  With experience ranging from hospitality to financial institutions and culminating in her current role in real estate and construction, she is familiar with a wide breadth of public company operational best practices.  She is a subject matter expert on residential construction and land acquisition, debt and equity capital market transactions, M&A and divesture structures, financial modeling and financial planning and analysis.  She also oversees the company’s ESG function, infrastructure, application and development information technology, including AI, as well as financial services operations including a mortgage brokerage, title and escrow services and an insurance brokerage. Ms. Sferruzza is a frequent contributor to articles, podcasts and panels regarding finance, technology innovation, ESG and the real estate sector in general.

Ms. Sferruzza is an Arizona CPA and a member of the American Institute of CPA’s, Arizona Society of CPA’s, the National Association of Professional Women and Financial Executive International.  She was voted Arizona Businesswoman of the Year – Real Estate in 2011 and CFO of the Year (FEI’s Arizona Chapter) in 2019.  Ms. Sferruzza earned her Executive MBA from Washington State University and her B.S in Accounting and Journalism from the University of Arizona.

Ms. Sferruzza is a director and audit committee chair for Footprint International Holdco, Inc. She is active with several community service organizations and has previously served as a board member for several non-for-profit organizations and foundations.  She is currently a member of the Arizona State University’s W.P. Carey School of Business Dean’s Council and Finance Advisory Board.
